An early 20th Century view of Central Avenue shows Somers' Mill and the Dan Collins Ice House. Little evidence of either building exists today but the house on the hill in the background is one of Linwood's charming old Somers Homes. The Ice House stood on what is the beach area of the pond by the Mainland Recreation Association pool.
