| The First Post Office in Linwood was in this house on Maple Avenue. In 1880 the village of Leedsville got permission to establish a post office but only if they would change of name of the town. It seems there was another Leedsville in New Jersey. Citizens met and voted to change the name to Linwood. The first postmaster was Joseph R. Risley whose family owned this home from the late 1830's up until the 1980's. |
