The Linwood Volumteer Fire Department was created in 1924 and the old firehall on Poplar Avenue displayed their best equipment in this 1940's photograph. Instead of the siren we are familiar with today, the fire department used an air horn that could be heard from one end of town to the other. For a time the library shared this building with the fire department.
