If there was a downtown Linwood in the first quarter of the 20th century, it had to be the area around Maple Avenue. Most of Linwood's businesses were within a block of this important station and on some old maps you'll find the words "Linwood Station" written at this spot. Mail was delivered here by rail and carted to the post office up the street on a wagon. Clark's coal yard was also nearby. The building on the right was first Hagerthey's and then Anderson's Feed Store. Today it is a private residence and the trolley bed is Linwood's popular bike path.
