Hagerthey's Store circa 1920
|
George Washington Hagerthey
opened his grocery store in the Sea View section of Linwood in
the 1860's. Folks said the best view of the bay between Linwood
and the island communities was from the back porch of Hagerthey's
store.
Others owned the store through
the 20th century but, like most of the town's corner groceries,
it lost out to super markets. It was torn down in the1970's to
make room for the 2000 Building.
