Belhaven Avenue School circa
1908
In 1908 when Belhaven Avenue
school opened it was the first time all children from Linwood
attended the same school. The building replaced the old Leedsville
School on Poplar Avenue and the Sea View School located on Ocean
Heights Avenue. Initially there were only four classrooms with
two grades in each room. There was no Kindergarten at that time.
Sometime in the 1920s four more rooms were added creating a room
for each grade. This is probably
the earliest picture of the school.
